Knife Sharpening

Blade Material: The Resharp machine sharpens stainless steel, carbon steel and painted steel knives, both foraged and stamped. Ceramic and plastic knives may not be sharpened with the Resharp machine.

Please note: This criteria applies to the knife blade only, the material of the handle may vary.

Blade Edge: There are several different styles of blade edge treatments possible for a kitchen knife.  Smooth blade edges, both straight and curved, with and without divets are accepted. Serrated, scalloped and wavy blade edges may not be sharpened with the Resharp machine.

Knife Bevel: A knife bevel refers to the slight angel or incline that runs down the sides of the blade’s edge.  Only double bevel knives are accepted. Single bevel knives may not be sharpened with the Resharp machine.

Blade Size: The Resharp machine sharpens a wide variety of knife sizes. Max blade length: 12”. Min blade length: 2.5”

Condition: The condition of a knife prior to sharpening is important. Knives with small dings and dents along the knife edge – as a result of normal wear and tear are accepted. Knives with large chips and/or dents along the knife edge, as well as bent and broken tips, require professional repair and may not be sharpened with the Resharp machine.
