Fun Facts: The origin of the Cayuga is unknown. Urban Lore tells that a miller in Dutchess County caught wild American Black Ducks and mated them with domestic ducks which resulted in Cayugas. However, this history is widely discredited as Cayugas share almost no similarities with the American Black Duck! The Cayuga is named after Cayuga Lake, one of the lakes in the Finger Lake region of New York.
